Naturally Yours: Peoria Illinois organic grocery, natural deli, and health food store: Magic Dunks On HIV
When was the last time you heard about Magic Johnson's battle with HIV and AIDS? Doesn't get a lot of press anymore, does it. He let the whole world know that he was infected with the HIV virus back in 1991. Seventeen years later, he still doesn't have AIDS and he's healthier than ever. Is he taking an expensive cocktail of miracle drugs that only superstars can afford? Possibly, but I doubt it.
What the press and "medical experts" fail to talk about, is the fact that the virus is now undetectable in his blood, and he uses supplements. I couldn't find everything that he takes, but the one that he endorses is called "My Defense" by Natrol.
The supplement's main ingredient is a patented form of larch arabinogalactan, an extract from the stumps of larch trees, which grow in Central Europe, North America and parts of Russia. The manufacturer of My Defense, Natrol Inc., says the extract (called ImmunEnhancer) protects against cellular damage and supports the body's natural production of immune system components. (Natrol website)
The supplement can be used as a source of dietary fiber, but the company cites six studies on ImmunEnhancer, the primary ingredient in My Defense, that it says suggests much broader uses. Tests on human subjects over the last six years have shown that ImmunEnhancer can improve the body's immune system, the company said. The studies, which ranged from one month to six months, showed an increased production of several types of white blood cells, including those known as macrophages and natural killer cells, the company said. These white blood cells help attack and destroy viruses and other microbes inside the body. (Natrol website)
Many companies have arabinogalactan....I can think of 3-4 at our store. Lots of herbs and supplements can boost your immune system, but you have to find which one works the best for you. "Host Defense" from New Chapter is just as good, if not better. Magic is as smart off the court as he is on. Conventional medicine is not the answer.
By the way, Magic may have also used ozone therapy (viruses can't live in an oxygenated environment), but doctors have remained tightlipped.
